Everlasting Love

Krystal and Todd came into the studio yesterday. They intend to get Christmas cards to send to their family and friends, but this portrait session was much more than a Christmas card session. Krystal and Todd have been married for 8 1/2 years. They decided they needed an updated portrait, given that the last time they were photographed professionally together was on their wedding day. This couple is not the average client, simply because I've known Krystal and Todd nearly my whole life! We have been friends since elementary school. In high school Todd had the biggest crush on Krystal but she never had any more feelings than just friends. This didn't stop them from being GREAT friends. A few years later, things turned around and these two got married. There is a lot to be said about couples that are friends first. It's been over 8 years and these two are closer friends and love each other, faults and all, more dearly with every day. When I think of Krystal and Todd, I'm reminded that there is such a thing as EVERLASTING LOVE.

Finding the right gift isn't always as easy as most would think...

Shining Hope / Subsidium Inc. Carrousel of Shoppes

Print Titled: Shining Hope

As many of you know Richard has worked with the ladies of Subsidium, Inc. as a sponsor/vendor for the "Carrousel of Shoppes" for over 10 years. Subsidium's sole purpose is to help fund scholarships and equipment for the Memphis Oral School for the Deaf. This charity holds a special place in my heart, because 6 years ago, my nephew was born deaf. He graduated from MOSD last year, with the many skills he needed to prepare him to start school in the public school system. Because of the ladies of Subsidium, Inc., the many families and business that make donations and the teachers of the MOSD, our lives are forever changed! This school touch our lives before Tucker was born, but now it touches our lives in ways that we never would have imagined.
As you take the time to shop for your loved ones holiday gifts, consider shopping the Carrousel of Shoppes. More than 120 merchants will be on site this year and a tasty Italian lunch menu by Pa Pa Pia's for Cafe Carousel will be offered on our shopping days, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Carrousel of Shoppes opens to the public, Thursday, December 4 at 9:00 a.m. and closes at 5:00 p.m. to reopen for Gala at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday hours are 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Tickets for Carrousel Gala are $50 per person in advance and are available at Davis-Kidd Booksellers or by calling the Subsidium office at 901-754-6454. Tickets at the door will be sold for $65 per person. Shoppers can also buy $6 advance tickets for shopping days at Davis-Kidd. All of the proceeds benefit the Memphis Oral School for the Deaf.

Fall is in Full Swing

Several of you may have noticed its been a couple of weeks since my last post. Fall portraits are in full swing! We have photographed families and seniors nearly everyday. It's been busy around here. Everyone is getting their portraits made for holiday cards and scheduling session appointments for the extended family that will be in town during the Thanksgiving holiday. I attached a few images from our recent sessions to help inspire thoughts of family and thanksgiving as the holidays approach.

Holloween Party Treats

(I found this online. I thought it was very creative and festive for those having Halloween parties. Have fun at the parties and be safe this weekend!)

What you'll need:

Clear Plastic Gloves
Candy Corn or Hot Tamales Candy
Popcorn
Orange and Black Ribbon
Plastic Spider Rings

How to make it:

Stuff a piece of candy corn in each finger of the clear plastic glove to resemble fingernails.
(If you wish, you can use the Hot Tamales candy instead to resemble painted fingernails.)
Fill it with popcorn.
Tie it at the wrist with orange and black ribbon.
Place a plastic spider ring on one of the fingers.

Ellis Heirloom

We photographed Ellis last week. She is the third child of Chris and Erin (Ellis) Avery. All three of the Avery children have been photographed in this christening gown. In fact, Ellis is the 11th child to wear this christening gown. It's a Ellis Family heirloom. Both of her sisters wore the gown along with most of her cousins, aunts and uncles. But it will remain a cherished heirloom to Ellis because her own Mommy wore this christening gown when she was a baby.

Ellis is a very happy baby and she photographed wonderfully!

Beach Adventures

Richard and the Ramsey Family are back from Gulf Shores. "Grandaddy" and "Gran-Deba" soaked up every minute possible with the grandchildren. Everyone seemed to have a great time, but the highlight was Olivia (Richard's granddaughter) beating Richard at Putt-Putt. Of course, with any beach trip there is a little work to do as well. Here is a sampling from the Smith Family session. Although, it was technically work, the Smith family is like family to us. Richard has photographed Noel, Hannah, and Jon since they were toddlers and now they are having their own toddlers photographed by Richard. These images are some of my favorites because they show so much love...take a look.

Passion for Painting

Richard enjoys art of many sorts, but he is particularly drawn to paintings. He draws inspiration from various artist, but he is especially inspired by Pino. Richard has offered various products throughout the years that give some resemblance of oil paintings, but his love for painting has turned into a passion that is flourishing through a new product, the Oil Impression. This product is a mixed media product that combines photography and painting. It gives you a likeness of an oil painting at a third of the cost of an authentic oil painting, but with all the beauty. Every painting tells a story; will your story be told next?

The Hendren Family: 1 HR Drive Time

Occasionally we have clients that spend a "little" extra time getting to the studio for family portraits. This year we have had clients that traveled as much as 4 hours, ONE WAY, in order to have "Richard Ramsey" photograph their family. The Hendren Family drove an hour from Lauderdale County to have their family portrait made. They have been clients of Richard's for years, so it was not a question, IF they would drive to Memphis, but WHEN they would drive to Memphis for their family portraits. They had lots of great images to choose from, so much so, Ms. Lisa had to call me three times after her ordering session to finalize her choices for the extended family. I'm positive their family will love the portraits and the Christmas cards they receive this year.

Enjoy viewing a portion from their Fall session.

Caitlen, ECS Class of 2009!

Caitlen was soooo much fun to photograph! She really got into the posing and she accessorized her outfits well. Accessories pull an outfit together, but in this case, they really added some pizazz to her Deluxe Senior Session. Take a look at the condensed version of her Senior video....

Amanda, TRA Class of 2009!

Richard recently photographed Amanda; we tried out some of our new props and even made the wind blow through her hair! Take a look at a short version of her Deluxe Senior Session Video. Enjoy!

Starting a blog!

Everyone is starting a blog, so we thought we would get in on the action too! I'm hoping that we'll be able to post specials and new products for you to see. But the greatest thing about blogging is the excitement of getting to see a portion of your family and friends portrait sessions posted on our blog. Its always fun to see yourself on the website, but blogging will allow us to show an even greater appreciation for our wonderful clients! Blogging is just one more place for you to take a look at the new things we are doing at Ramsey Photography. Stay tuned to see what goes up next! Richard is out of the office this next week. It's fall break for Shelby & Tipton County schools. The Ramsey family is taking a trip to Gulf Shores, I'm sure that will be lots of fun! Look for an upcoming post from the "Beach Adventures." But in the mean time, I'm still here holding down the fort and I'll be posting a small sampling from some of our most recent sessions.
